We are very pleased to announce that the Shadow Update is now fully playable. Since the last update we have been working on the Shadow update, and we are very pleased to announce that the update is now fully playable. The Shadow update will be added to the test server for players to try out, as well as for the developers to work on testing. “Hey Kenny, what’s the difference between a test server for Crowfall and a test server for Battlefield?”
The relentless march of development continues in the world of Crowfall. The team is hard at work on the upcoming Shadow update, which is slated to ship on June 7th. The past week has been a whirlwind of activity, with a full new build being deployed to our test servers, a large new build for PC and Mac, and a new build for all of our game clients. We also had a very nice surprise from the network team, which means we are now ready to move on to the next phase of testing and deployment of the Shadow update.
It has been a while since we last reported on the progress of Crowfall’s Shadow update, but tonight we have some news for you. The development team is hard at work on the next version of the game, which is currently named the Shadow update, and it’s about to go through a full testing session. In this last update, the focus has been on the game’s ability to handle increased load and player activity, and the developers have brought the capacity testing suite up to date to ensure that the servers are performing well.. Isn’t it amazing that Crowfall has been available for three weeks? ArtCraft has returned with another weekly blog — and a hint for the next release.
Gordon Walton says, “Our next major gameplay update, The Shadow, went to public testing on the Test Server last week including a first look at The Shadow (home to our 3-faction PvP game worlds) as well as our new bigger Dregs map, which was requested by many guilds playing in the existing Dregs.” “You may also check out the major modifications to the Assassin and Duelist classes, as well as adjustments to a few other classes, if you join in to the Test Server. There are also hundreds of bug fixes and polish items. […] We’ll have some announcements shortly regarding better siege balance within our zone cap, as well as a few other topics we know you’re interested in.”
Shadow campaigns, which are three-way PvP scenarios, will begin in all areas in July. The company adds, “We will also launch our new larger Dregs campaign on our US East server area for our global experienced gamers who have been clamoring for bigger maps.” “We’ll launch additional Dregs and Shadow campaigns as we require more capacity.”
Finally, ArtCraft is asking gamers to come murder them in the game tonight at 7 p.m. EDT.
“This Thursday evening, from 6 – 7 p.m. CDT (1 – 2 a.m. CEST), we’re hosting a ‘come kill the dev team’ event. The actual goal of this event is to get enough people on the Test server to see how well a 250-person zone limits performance (the cap is 200 currently on Live). Taking our Keep away on the playtest server to humiliate our team is simply a bonus (until we win, of course!).”
