Fixed: DLG_FLAGS_SEC_CERT_DATE_INVALID on Internet Explorer or Edge

Edge and Internet Explorer (IE) both have issues on Windows 7 with Windows Security Center (WSC). In this blog post I describe how to fix this and how to get access to WSC.

Microsoft has released patches for all supported versions of the Windows operating system, but unfortunately they seem to have missed the patch for Windows 10. This bug occurs when Internet Explorer or Edge is installed and the date stamp in the certificate is prior to the cut-off date for when the certificate will not be accepted by the browser. The error appears when this date is within the cut-off date.

Since Microsoft put Office on the web, they have been adding features that enable users to edit files right in the browser. One of those is the Office 365 file management features, which allow users to view and edit files stored on SharePoint Online (the cloud version of Office 365). Office 365 offers several different file management solutions, but the one we are going to focus on is the document management features of SharePoint Online.

Microsoft has two web browsers: Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge. Despite the fact that there are better browsers than Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge, some Windows users choose to stick with the outdated browsers. This is particularly true for companies, since the latter two browsers interact well with Active Directory, which manages user group rules. However, when it comes to time and modern browsers with a wide range of sophisticated features and services, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge are far behind. It does, however, have certain advantages.

These modern web browsers, however, sometimes produce an error. When visitors attempt to access a website, DLG FLAGS SEC CERT DATE INVALID is returned. The security of the domain website you are attempting to visit is jeopardized by this error message. There are many options for dealing with this issue. Let’s look at how to repair the DLG FLAGS SEC CERT DATE INVALID issue in Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer.

DLG FLAGS SEC CERT DATE INVALID is a DLG FLAGS SEC CERT DATE INVALID error.

These messages typically begin with a strong header stating that your connection is not secure, or a warning that a possible security risk is present. These notifications may be aggravating for both visitors and site owners, particularly if the site owner has invested in an SSL/TLS certificate. These problems are often caused by server configuration mistakes, which are simple to resolve once you know what’s causing them. We’ll look at some typical setup problems and their related error messages in different web browsers in this tutorial.

Delete the data from your browser

The most effective approach is to clear the data from the web browser. Cookies, cache, and any other temporary data saved in browsers are included. If the issue is linked to our browser or the data it gathers from websites, we may do so.

Microsoft Edge is a browser developed by Microsoft.

  1. Click the three dots in the upper right corner of the Microsoft Edge browser software.
  2. In the pop-up menu, choose Settings.
  3. Click Privacy and Services on the following screen.
  4. In the Privacy and Services section, scroll down a little.
  5. The Clear browsing data section will now appear. To the right of the header, choose the Choose what to remove option.
  6. There will be a pop-up menu. Select the All-Time option from the drop-down menu in this menu.
  7. You may now choose what you wish to get rid of.
  8. Cookies and other site data, pictures and cache files, and site permissions are the most important data to remove for our procedure.
  9. As a result, be sure you check/uncheck these three boxes.
  10. Then choose Delete Now from the drop-down menu. This will begin the procedure and finish it in a matter of seconds.
  11. It may take longer depending on the amount of files and data in your browser.
  12. Restart your browser or computer after the procedure is finished.

Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE):

  1. To launch the Delete Browsing History window in Internet Explorer, click Ctrl+Shift+Delete.
  2. You may now choose what you wish to remove.
  3. Temporary Internet files and cookies are the most essential data to remove for our procedure.
  4. So make sure these two boxes are checked/unchecked/unchecked.
  5. In addition, uncheck If info from preferred web sites shows, save it.
  6. Then press the Delete key.
  7. This will begin the procedure and finish it in a matter of seconds.
  8. It may take longer depending on the amount of files and data in your browser.
  9. Restart your browser or computer after the procedure is finished.

Changing the time and date

  1. To launch the Run dialog box, use Windows/Start+R.
  2. Type timedate.cpl (without the quotes) in the Run dialog box and click Enter.
  3. The Time and Date menu appears.
  4. Correct the date and time using the Edit Date and Time option on the regular Date and Time page.
  5. If you have an active Internet connection, navigate to Internet Time Change SettingsSelect the time zone you want to use.
  6. Click Update after selecting the right server from the drop-down option.
  7. This will change the time and date on the Internet to match your time zone precisely.

On your computer, create a new user profile.

  1. Go to the Control Panel of your computer.
  2. Go to User Accounts in the Control Panel.
  3. Select Manage another account from the user account settings.
  4. Then, depending on your Windows version, select Add new user in PC Settings or Create new account.
  5. Then, to create a new user profile, follow the on-screen prompts (give your Microsoft account details, new account name, etc.).
  6. Restart your computer at the end.
  7. Log in to the user profile/account you just established from the main screen when your computer restarts.

Checking for certificate errors is off.

  1. To launch the Run dialog box, use Windows/Start+R.
  2. Type “inetcpl.cpl” (without the quotes) in the Run dialog box text field and click Enter.
  3. You may be asked for administrator access depending on your account management settings. Simply follow the instructions.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts and give access or permission.
  5. The Internet Properties page will display after you’ve done so. Select the Advanced tab from the drop-down menu.
