Here’s what to expect from LOTRO’s new progression servers launching today at noon

This weekend, Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) will be launching two new progression servers (beta servers) for players who want to get into the game before the new expansion goes live on January 28. If you’re a new player, you have several options: 1. You can play one of the new servers right now. 2. You can play the new server listed first in the upcoming beta program. 3. You can opt to wait until January 28 and start your adventure on the new Epic-level server. 4. You can play on any server. There are no rules.

Despite its addictive gameplay, The Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) is far from a perfect game, and it’s been in dire need of some tuning ever since last year’s update, Rise of Isengard. This is an update that brought the game up to speed with newer, more advanced MMOs by introducing a progression system where players can earn the right to play at higher levels. Of course, players had to pay a heavy price for the privilege of playing at these levels, and that is why the decision was made to remove the level caps altogether.

The launch of the new progression servers today marks the start of a new era for the Lord of the Rings Online. With the new servers, players will be able to start from level one and achieve maximum level 70, and then enjoy all the new content that will be released over the course of 2013 and 2014.. As promised, Standing Stone Games is launching two new progressive servers today for Lord of the Rings Online subscribers (yes, you must be a VIP subscriber or have a lifetime account to take advantage of this). They are meant to be always-on servers, with Shadowfax offering accelerated level progression and faster patch distribution, and Treebeard’s server doing the exact opposite for those who want the slowest experience possible. Ahead of today’s launch, SSG released new information about how the servers work. Here are the highlights!

Sh Shadow Fox vs Boom

The Shadowfax server offers a 50% bonus for character experience, XP legends and XP aunts, and a 20% bonus for virtue experience. Content should be published approximately every two months. Treebeard, on the other hand, reduces the experience gain of by 60% of the normal server rate with . Unlocking content is reduced to five or six months, which gives you plenty of time to move on. This means that both servers will start at the starting level of 50 in Shadows of Angmar, although specific classes and races (Runekeeper, Guardian, Beorning, High Elf and Axeman) will be available to play.

There will be a cash shop on these servers, including level boosts (up to the current limit). However, transfers are currently limited: You cannot transfer to, from, or between Shadowfax and Treebeard. (You can transition from Anor, an old legendary server, so we assume transitions from those servers will eventually be available). SSG has clarified that account-based purchases will be available on the new realms. PvMP is not available, but most festivals will work if only one zone is available in this version of the game.

Landscape complexity

SSG will be testing a new landscape complexity option on these two new servers. Basically, it’s a way to adjust the difficulty of monsters in the open world for your toon in exchange for titles, extra experience, and bragging rights. To activate this mode, players must chat with Bertadan near the prancing pony in Bree.

You can set the difficulty of the landscape between Normal and Deadly +6, increasing the difficulty of enemies you encounter in the landscape. The difficulty level can be changed at any time by talking to Bertadan again. However, if you start on a higher difficulty before reaching level 11 and stay on that high difficulty, you will be rewarded for reaching level 50 and 130! There are four titles for each class: two to reach Difficult+ difficulty at levels 50 and 130, and two to reach Deadly+ difficulty at levels 50 and 130. You MUST activate the desired difficulty level before you reach level 11, and keep that difficulty level or higher until you win the title. You can find Deeds in the game to track your progress.

With all the deadly challenges, additional dangers lurk in the form of the effects of the Eye of Sauron. If Sauron’s eye catches up with you, your progress will be interrupted by random effects for about a minute. Players will receive bonus XP and Virtue XP for completing quests on higher difficulty levels, ranging from +10% XP to +20% XP and +1% to +5% Virtue XP.

Retail versus conventional

SSG said work will continue on the production servers: We do not plan to stop frequent, regular and active development of non-legendary game worlds, and we have plans for them in the future, the team said. She also pointed out that she considers Shadowfax and Treebeard to be legendary servers – what we would call typical progression servers, not classic servers.

In most descriptions, the classic server is an attempt to restore LOTRO exactly as it was at launch, using only the resources and content available in 2007, the team says. The Legendary server runs in parallel with the existing servers and therefore incorporates many of the changes that have been made to the game over the years, such as B. UI improvements, bug fixes, game system changes, etc. In cases where we have updated or changed the location of regions, the legend server will use the updated version of the regions. When we have changed items or player skills, the Legendary server will use those updated skills.
